"I'm ready to die in the ring when I fight. I fight to the end,"

Sherman “The Tank” Pendergarst is a professional mixed martial arts heavyweight fighter. He is a former resident of Baltimore, Maryland. While attending college at Old Dominion University he was a member of their collegiate wrestling team. Once out of college, Sherman missed the joy of competing in the sport of wrestling. Sherman decided to start training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Boxing to maintain a healthy level of physical fitness. Within a few months of training Sherman began competing in regional grappling events. After two years of grappling tournaments, Sherman turned his focus on the sport of mixed martial arts competition.

Since the summer of 2006, Sherman has been living and training in Bettendorf, Iowa as a member of Miletich Fighting Systems. The move from Maryland to Iowa has enabled Sherman to become a well rounded fighter. Currently Sherman holds a professional mma record of 10 wins – 8 losses. Sherman has competed and headlined fight cards for multiple mma promotions all over the country. During his mma career, he has won three heavyweight championships.

Sherman is the current and 2X defending World Fight League Super HeavyWeight Champion. Sherman is also featured on the cover of the DVD case for the World Fight League's Judgment Night. Sherman won the Rampage in the Cage Heavyweight Championship in June 2006. In September 2006, Sherman added his third heavyweight MMA title. The Tank now holds the Xtreme Gladiators Heavyweight Championship title.
